Paul Nussbaum’s Pacific Crest Trail Expedition for Autism Awareness
Donate to Help Paul Generate Autism Awareness
GOAL: $1 per Mile or $2,650
Paul Nussbaum, a member of Ascendigo Autism Services’ Board of Directors, is currently hiking the 2,650-mile Pacific Crest Trail that spans from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon, and Washington. Paul, 61, was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome/high functioning autism at age 40, after a long hard struggle with employment, academics, and major communication and social issues. He has since been active in advocacy work for those with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
As an avid outdoorsman, Paul chooses to undertake outdoor expeditions to create awareness of the challenges and the triumphs that neuro-atypical individuals experience. His Pacific Crest Trail expedition will take him through the beauty of the desert, the glaciers of the Sierra Nevada, deep forests, and the volcanic peaks of the Cascade Range. Paul started his expedition on June 14th from Tehachapi and is heading north. He will travel to Mexico after reaching Canada and complete the southern portion of the trip. Ascendigo will keep you updated on his progress and experiences.
